Virginie B releases two remixes of Cinéma off her latest album Astral 2000

One year after the release of Astral 2000, Virginie B unveils two remixes of Cinéma, one of the album’s most energetic songs. The first one is produced by DJ and musician Yuki B (Yocto, Jesuslesfilles), while the other is by Noo Jii, a Montreal-based electronic artist.
Listen to Cinéma (Remixes)Yuki B's remix features a slowed-down tempo of 120 BPM and a simplified 4/4 beat that’s perfect for the dancefloor. Its hard-hitting groove and dark bassline immerse the listener in the atmosphere of a sweaty, crowded club from the late 80s, contrasting with the futuristic vibe of the original version. Cinéma is the first remix I ever made, and it's also what allowed me to define my identity as an electronic music producer, explains Yuki B. I am deeply touched by Virginie B's trust and grateful to be working with such an inspiring artist.
Noo Jii's remix has a more modern and abstract sound, which builds on the eccentricity of the original by amplifying it; its unconventional structure is in line with the experimental subgenres that have marked electronic music in recent years, notably UK bass and deconstructed club. A friend introduced me to Astral 2000 this summer, and I immediately wanted to remix the fourth track, Cinéma! Just five hours after receiving Virginie B's approval, the remix was already finished, adds Noo Jii.
The original version of Cinéma is about those solitary moments when we watch our own autofiction in our head on repeat, as if it were a movie. It's so nice to hear the song come alive in the minds of two new people, says Virginie B.
Nominated in the Revelation of the Year category at the ADISQ Gala earlier this month, Virginie B is also nominated in four categories at the GAMIQ: Artist of the Year, Single of the Year (for Autoportrait), Electronic Album of the Year (for Astral 2000), and Professional Music Video of the Year (for the album’s title track). She will be performing at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) tomorrow, November 20th, as part of M for Montreal. She will then head to Europe for a few dates in Sweden and France before returning to Quebec to finish the year at festivals. See the list below for all details.

About Astral 2000
The irreverent Virginie B reveals her extravagance on Astral 2000, her second album and first to be released on Bonsound. At once quirky and accessible, visceral and sophisticated, synthetic and deeply human, its songs explore conflicting personal themes: Virginie goes back and forth between her love of nature and fascination with new technologies, her longing for lazy days and the urgency of her mortality, her desire for simple pleasures and need to perform in the spotlight, her relationship with her femininity, her desires and the excesses they often result in.
Conceived alongside producer and multi-instrumentalist Louis Jeay-Beaulieu, Astral 2000 is one of the first hyperpop albums to come out of Quebec, and its originality makes it stand out from the genre’s leading acts. On this second album, Virginie B presents herself as a carefree queen, a digital nymph, a timeless creature.
About Virginie B
Virginie B's irresistible quirkiness is matched only by her boundless creativity. The singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist offers a unique interpretation of hyperpop that incorporates touches of nu-jazz, funk and R&B, complemented with a sophisticated conceptual approach inherited from art pop and a pronounced taste for maximalism and glamour.
