Sophia Bel captures the shifting identity of a hyperconnected generation on dreamy new single Mood Ring

A few short weeks after releasing Rat Race, a manifesto on the relentless pace of modern life, Sophia Bel returns with Mood Ring, a dreamy lullaby for the restless. The track is the second single off her sophomore album, When The Cows Come Home, set for release on May 7, 2027 via Bonsound.

Listen to Mood Ring

Just as a prism catches and separates the endless spectrum of colours hidden within a single ray of light, Mood Ring captures the quiet indecisiveness of a chronically online, decision-fatigued generation. Wrapped in a warm, enveloping sound bath, Sophia Bel's simple, familiar imagery explores how our sense of self bends and shifts under the weight of constant connection and endless possibilities.

Released in July, Rat Race appeared on playlists across the US, the UK, Indonesia, Scandinavia and France, including Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists in eight countries.

Sophia Bel’s 2022 debut album, Anxious Avoidant, appeared on year-end lists from RANGE Magazine, Exclaim! and CJLO. Upon its release, the record also received praise from Le Devoir, Le Canal Auditif and EUPHORIA.

About Sophia Bel

In a world of masks and conventions, Sophia Bel’s devotion to transparency creates a much-needed space to truly feel—one where the noise and endless routines of modern life give way to the comforting silence of our inner world. Following the release of her angsty, aptly titled debut album Anxious Avoidant in 2022, she stepped away from the rat race to recover from tech fatigue and the relentless pressures of social media. In 2026, she enters a new chapter.

Drawn to the space between chaos and stillness, the Montreal-based singer-songwriter explores what it means to be human in an increasingly distracted world. Blending intimate songwriting with dreamy, organic soundscapes, she transforms everyday moments into quiet reflections on identity, connection and meaning. In a culture driven by constant stimulation and productivity, her work is a gentle reminder that stillness, vulnerability and reflection are not indulgences, but necessities.
