LUMIÈRE kicks off the holiday season with original Christmas song Noël me prend par la main

Just in time for the first snowfall of the year, LUMIÈRE (Étienne Côté, also known as the drummer of Bon Enfant) unveils Noël me prend par la main, a song inspired by his annual holiday visits to his hometown. Like many others who have left their home to settle in the city, Étienne braves the winter storm to reunite with his family in his grandparents' timeless house in the countryside, where nothing seems to have changed since his early childhood.

From his grandmother’s songs to coats piled up on the bed, Noël me prend par la main highlights the little things that define the essence of Christmas for LUMIÈRE. To capture this festive and nostalgic atmosphere in music, he recorded the track with producer Emmanuel Éthier in a single day of January, during which musicians, close collaborators and friends came and went to contribute diverse instrumentation ranging from bells and violin to synthesizers and electric guitar. We set up a table with a buffet, bottles of alcohol... The goal was to recreate the atmosphere of a family Christmas party throughout the recording, and I think we succeeded!, says Étienne.

Noël me prend par la main follows the double single Fiou / Chronique d’une vie de merde, whose release in March 2025 marked the beginning of a new era for LUMIÈRE. Fiou is nominated in the Single of the Year category at the GAMIQ awards, which will take place on November 30th.

About LUMIÈRE

LUMIÈRE is Étienne Côté’s solo project, the free embodiment of a musical enlightenment shaped by rock music. His sound is spectacular yet sensitive, transcends trends and brilliantly masters the essence of nostalgia. Released in 2021, the Montreal-based artist's first album A.M.I.E.S.A.M.O.U.R is a conceptual project at the crossroads of rock, folk and psychedelic pop. 

GLAM, his sophomore album, was released via Bonsound in April 2023. It was produced by Alexandre Martel (Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Hubert Lenoir), a prolific musician and record producer with whom he also worked on the first record. Nominated in the Rock Album of the Year category at both the ADISQ gala and the GAMIQ, GLAM led LUMIÈRE to perform on some of the biggest stages of his career.
