Christian Sean returns with striking new single Saint Loreto

Montreal-based alt-pop innovator Christian Sean is back with Saint Loreto, his new single out now via Bonsound. A bold and kinetic release, the track sees the artist pushing deeper into his fusion of avant-pop and electronic experimentation, delivering one of his most immediate and euphoric moments to date. Christian Sean will perform Saint Loreto along with the songs from Hallelujah Showers, his 2025 debut album, live at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival on June 5th.

Bouncy, breathless and bursting with energy, Saint Loreto channels a raw, analogue pulse that feels both earthy and forward-looking. Drawing inspiration from 80’s techno and vintage R&B, the track is built around tactile synth textures and propulsive rhythms, capturing the spirit of early electronic pop while reshaping it through Sean’s distinctive lens.
I was reading Kelefa Sanneh’s book Major Labels: A History of Popular Music, and thinking about the nature of pop and how it didn’t really exist as its own genre until the 1980s, when it was pioneered by a handful of producers using synths and primitive drum machines, Sean explains. I wanted to pay respect to that organic electronic approach in the studio, and make my own version of a pure pop song with an updated vision.
Beneath its vibrant surface, Saint Loreto carries a deeper emotional core. Lyrically, the track explores the climb out from isolation toward human connection, and how the comfort of too much solitude can leave you stunted.
Following the acclaim surrounding his debut album Hallelujah Showers, Christian Sean continues to establish himself as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary pop’s progressive edge. Known for blending melodic immediacy with leftfield production, his work exists at the intersection of instinct and innovation, where classic pop sensibilities meet boundary-pushing sound design.
About Christian Sean
Christian Sean is a believer in the transformative power of pop music. As a kid, he was drawn to indie rock and left-field electronics, part of a Montreal scene that disavowed commerciality in favour of innovation. Over time, however, he surrendered to his true calling – making the best music of his life with a unique blend of melodic sensibilities and avant-garde experimentation.
Released in early 2025 on Canadian indie label Bonsound, his debut album Hallelujah Showers showcased an entrancing vision of homegrown progressive pop, the culmination of his years toiling on the local music circuit as a producer and multi-instrumentalist. The record received significant praise from international critics, with Ones To Watch calling it “revelatory”, adding that “the imaginative layering of this record is pure grace”, and Sean being heralded as “a rising avant-pop star” (The FADER), and “a visionary act who has been redefining pop music with electro-tinged soundscapes and ethereal vocals” (EARMILK).
Off the heels of a 2025 Canadian tour opening for French alt-pop superstar Zaho de Sagazan, and appearances at festivals such as POP Montreal and Santa Teresa, Christian Sean is gearing up for his busiest year yet, with the release of his latest single, Saint Loreto, and a performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in 2026.
